The Beginning (We Need Contributors!)

Effrenatum (From the Latin, ‘unbridled’), is an upcoming English language journal of iconoclast creativity and audacity coming from an anarchist perspective. We are trying to put together a Zine-type of publication for circulation online and in print form. On this blog, we will publish collected materials into the basis of what we would like to see in the final first and following editions of the Effrenatum journal. The journal will be available freely in PDF form online.

What We Need

  • Motivated people with a knack for true freedom and its expression
  • People with printer/paper/ink/stapler access in their areas
  • Content, Content, Content

The Type Of Effort This Is

This is an anarchist media project. That is not to say we cannot work with individuals who do not assume that label for themselves, but we use that label to describe a set of tendencies in thought and action that influence the direction of this journal. The sole focus of this journal is to circulate ideas and art relating to anti-authoritarianism of all kinds.

How This Effort Is Managed

This is strictly an online collaboration. We expect there to be a global involvement on sharing individual work under the negative black banner of this journal. The blog is administered by a lone anarchist residing in Turtle Island (so-called North America) and is therefore steered by her until others volunteer to help with the blog and the compilation of content.

The Type Of Content We Need

(We very much need people with graphic design knowledge to give input and mock-ups on cover art. We are hoping for covers making use of Calligraphy fonts and imagery of vandalism/urban and ecological devastation/burned cop cars/sabotaged machinery/basically what you see on crust punk album covers, to be honest.)

We need content that screams out against the root origins of all the alienation and artificially woven sorrow and destruction.

We need content that denounces the “normal” brutality of this way of life. We need perspectives in prose as well as poetry (under 2000 words is preferred if possible).

We need visual art that strikes the viewer with its blunt message and echoing presentation. Illustrations, photography, digital art, it is all welcome.

All works submitted are expected to be free of copyright. This journal is against intellectual property and shares its contents for free reproduction.

In Conclusion

We are trying to set a new precedent for those who mean to say things and thereby affect the world. We are trying to elevate our voices above the punditry, the grifters, the moron bigot bystanders, all from a place appropriate for our frustration with everything that has made us who we are. Let us not hesitate to carve our marks on the world we hate.
